From my research and understanding I see that the loafer was originally a female’s shoe. Over the past 80 years these men’s loafers have become popular to the extent that they are now one of the most popular shoes out. The men’s loafer doesn’t very much resemble the loafers that opposite sex wore many years ago in the 1930’s. They have changed a lot in shape and become more bulky, where the older ones were a lot trimmer. In ways they are similar to womens loafers. Men’s loafers can be brought from a number of places, although I only have a few pairs, the range in style varies quite a lot. None of the men’s loafers I have seen have the original tassels that were so popular, and helped the success of loafers in the first place. Many of them have been replaced with ugly straps that go back and forth on the left to the right of the men’s loafers. These aren’t the ones that I am getting into. I’m getting into the original men’s loafers from the 50’s and 60’s. These ones seem to have a lot more flare and style; these are the ones that are seen in all fashion magazines at the moment. If you haven’t saw then you definitely should check em out every bodies wearing them. Men’s loafer company Wildsmith (who also do womens loafers) were the first company to make them over one hundred years ago in the 1800’s. They began making the men’s loafers with leather rather than suede, Suede now seems to be the popular choice by most of the companies who still manufacture men’s loafers. I have seen some of these loafers and these are the ones that everyone is wearing the ones that are coming back into the fashion industry. The company who first made these men’s loafers, made them firstly for the King of England at the time. However after their success with the masses they decided to bring them to everybody, so everybody could enjoy the comfort that men’s loafers bring. Although Men’s loafers first become popular in America for some reason they are now seen as a very European style and very much are considered being popular in the UK. Men’s loafers have a large history and I’m sure they will get more and more popular times goes on.
